I Built a 14-Agent AI Team for £0 — Here Is What Happened

As a solo founder with zero budget, I needed a marketing team. So I built one with AI agents.

£0 in tools. Every platform is free tier. Mastodon API, Hashnode GraphQL, Telegraph API, Nostr protocol — all free and open.

The only cost is API calls to the AI model running the agents.

What I Learned

1. Engagement beats posting

80% of growth came from replying to other people, not from our own posts. Genuine engagement in communities builds trust faster than broadcasting.

2. Platform focus matters

We tried 12 platforms. Only 4 worked reliably. Mastodon, Hashnode, Telegraph, and Nostr became our core. Twitter got locked, Reddit IP-blocked us, Substack sessions expired.

3. Content that converts

Competitor comparison posts (Dragon vs Genie 007) got 800% more engagement than generic AI tips. People searching for alternatives are ready to buy.

4. Enterprise leads appear unexpectedly

Our best lead — an EU enterprise asking about cybersecurity compliance — came from a Mastodon reply, not a sales pitch.
